Hello Junior Families,
It’s almost time for the Class of 2026 to pass the torch to the Class of 2027 Senior Night Committee! 🎓❤️💛
One of the first fundraising opportunities for next year’s senior all-night grad party is coming up June 27–28 at the Savannah Bananas event at the University of Oregon, and we are looking for volunteers ages 14+ to help work concessions.
This is a great way to jump in early, meet other junior families, and help start building support for next year’s seniors. Volunteers with food handler cards and/or OLCC permits are especially helpful, but all support is appreciated!
Sign up here:
Questions? Contact junior parent volunteer Sarah Baer at sbaer4423@gmail.com or connect through the parent Facebook group.
Thank you for helping keep this NEHS tradition going strong for our students!

How will our community get from point A to point B in 20 years? Lane Transit District (LTD) is forming a Community Advisory Committee (CAC) for Connect 2045, a long-range plan for public transportation. This plan will outline a vision for a more sustainable and easy-to-use transit system in Lane County—and the steps to make it happen.
We’re looking for community groups and individuals (including students 16 and up - like you!) to help guide the process. Members will attend four 2-hour meetings between this Summer and Fall of 2027, sharing feedback and reviewing materials.
The application takes about 5 minutes. Selected members will receive a stipend and free bus passes.
Your voice can help shape the future of transit in our community. Please apply by May 31. Questions? Email Connect2045@ltd.org.

The history village includes a replica cedar plankhouse and he is also planning to bring a tipi. There will be many booths and reenactors, fun activities, live music, pet-a-goat and more!
Bring clean returnable bottles and cans to donate to CASA of Lane County. (They will be running the washboard laundry station!)

while having fun and growing their independence—whether that’s walking, biking, rolling, or riding the bus. Here are a few tips for getting around this summer and beyond.
What to Ride? E-bikes and e-scooters can be lots of fun and help students get around independently, but not all are legal for everyone or legal everywhere. Click here for quick tips.
- Age limits vary by device, but none are legal for youth under 14. See the City website for specifics and note that new laws go into effect in January.
- E-moto vs. e-bike: If it goes over 20 mph without pedaling, it’s an e-moto and is only allowed on private property. E-motos are not legal to ride on paths, streets or sidewalks. Some may look like e-bikes, so be sure you know what your student is riding.
- Helmets are required for riders under 16, no matter what they’re riding.
Don’t forget—walking, biking, and riding non-electric devices are another option for fun and mobility that are great for your health and good for the planet, too.
As for riding safely, no matter the ride, speed matters. Higher speeds means a higher risk of serious injury in a crash. Know how fast your student’s device can go and make sure they have the skills they need to avoid hurting themselves or others. Encourage them to travel at safe speeds and stay predictable and aware.
Looking for a fun and affordable way to get around? Ride the bus! It’s easy for families to explore the community together with free student passes and Lane Transit District’s Dollar Days of Summer. During July and August, adult fares are just $1.00/ride or $2.00/day pass. With a free Student Transit Pass available at your school’s main office, students can ride free all summer long.
We encourage all families to stay active, be safe, and have fun exploring this summer—we’ll see you in the fall!
